Seagate rolls out 30TB Exos and IronWolf Pro drives to meet AI and edge storage demands

Seagate has officially launched its highest-capacity hard drives to date: the 30TB Exos M and IronWolf Pro. These new models are now available globally, including in the UAE, and are designed specifically to support the growing demands of AI-intensive workloads and data-heavy NAS environments.

Both drives are built on Seagate’s Mozaic 3+ platform, leveraging Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology. This enables each drive to store 30 terabytes of data without compromising on performance or energy efficiency — a significant milestone in the evolution of traditional hard disk drives.

The timing of the release aligns with a clear trend: organizations across sectors are increasingly constrained by data gravity, especially as AI adoption accelerates and data sovereignty laws push infrastructure toward the edge. In this context, scalable and cost-effective storage has become as critical as GPUs in building reliable AI systems.

For enterprise users, the Exos M 30TB is targeted at large-scale data centers and hyperscalers. Its high-density form factor makes it suitable for installations where space and power constraints are a concern. As AI models grow larger and more complex, training systems require local access to petabyte-scale datasets, a task where traditional HDDs still offer a price-per-terabyte advantage over flash.

Meanwhile, the IronWolf Pro 30TB is tuned for 24/7 operation in network-attached storage (NAS) setups. Its reliability and performance make it well-suited for edge use cases like video analytics in retail, real-time monitoring in manufacturing, and fraud detection in banking. NAS solution providers like QNAP and UGREEN have already begun integrating the new drives into edge-focused AI systems, supporting use cases like image recognition and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

UAE Pricing and Availability

The 30TB IronWolf Pro and Exos M are priced at AED 2,204 (approx. $599.99). Slightly lower-capacity 28TB models are also available for AED 2,093 (around $569.99). The drives can be purchased directly from Seagate’s online store or through authorized UAE resellers.

Why It Matters

AI is fundamentally altering storage needs. From training large language models to deploying edge AI applications, storage must now scale in both capacity and accessibility. These 30TB drives reflect the growing demand for localized, high-throughput storage options that support AI workloads outside of traditional cloud data centers.

As enterprises seek infrastructure that supports both central and distributed computing strategies, Seagate’s high-capacity HDDs offer a practical solution that balances volume, speed, and cost.
