A new hands-on video from YouTuber MKBHD provides a first look at Samsung’s highly anticipated Project Moohan XR headset, showcasing its hardware, Android XR interface, and Gemini AI integration. This early preview offers a glimpse into the exciting potential of Samsung’s entry into the XR market.

The headset’s design prioritizes comfort and practicality. Unlike the Apple Vision Pro, Project Moohan features a magnetic light shield that can be removed for improved peripheral vision or attached for a more immersive experience. A dial at the back allows for adjusting the fit and distributing pressure evenly, enhancing comfort during extended use. Physical controls, including a volume rocker, a single button, and a touchpad on the right strap, provide intuitive navigation. A standout feature is the removable battery pack, which connects via a USB-C cable and allows for quick battery swaps without the need for special tools.

The Android XR interface offers a user-friendly experience, enabling users to manipulate windows and interact with content using natural hand gestures. Google’s Gemini AI chatbot is deeply integrated into the headset, further enhancing user interaction. Gemini enables voice-controlled UI navigation, allowing users to open apps, adjust settings, and perform tasks with simple voice commands. The AI also powers real-time object recognition, providing contextual information about objects viewed through the headset. Furthermore, Project Moohan will have access to the Google Play Store, offering compatibility with a wide range of Android apps.
