Samsung has announced its latest addition to the large-format display market — a 115-inch Micro RGB model, featuring what the company describes as the first “micro-scale” RGB LED backlight. Initially launching in Korea and the United States, the display will be rolled out globally at a later date.
The Micro RGB system uses individually controlled micrometer-sized RGB LEDs arranged in a backlight pattern, allowing for precise color reproduction and higher contrast. According to Samsung, the technology delivers 100% color coverage of the BT.2020 standard. The display also includes a glare-free coating and a slim metal design aimed at the high-end TV market.

AI-powered software complements the hardware, with frame-by-frame analysis to adjust color calibration and optimize visuals. Audio processing is similarly enhanced through AI, with the display incorporating Samsung’s “Micro RGB Precision Color” system for tighter control over each color channel.
Additional features include Samsung Vision AI, integrated Bixby voice assistant support, and up to seven years of software updates for the built-in Tizen OS. Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D for Samsung’s Visual Display Business, positioned the product as a benchmark in the ultra-premium category, citing improvements in color accuracy and contrast as core differentiators.
The Micro RGB display reflects Samsung’s continued push into high-end consumer display technology, building on its track record in OLED, QLED, and MicroLED panels. Pricing and availability details beyond the initial markets have yet to be announced.
