Samsung is accelerating the release of its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta, signaling a change in pace after last year’s slower One UI 7 rollout. The company initially launched the One UI 8 beta in May, with early access limited to the Galaxy S25 series. Now, more than two months later, that beta program is reaching a wider group of Galaxy users, including those with 2024’s flagship and foldable devices.
The One UI 8 beta update is now available for the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. These join the already supported Galaxy S25 lineup (S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra) in receiving early access to Android 16 via Samsung’s custom interface.
As usual, availability is restricted by region. For the S25 series, the beta launched first in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and South Korea, before expanding to Poland and India. The latest additions—Galaxy S24 series and the latest foldables—are getting the beta in South Korea, the U.S., the U.K., and India.
It’s worth noting that the Samsung One UI 8 beta update list reflects staged rollouts. Devices receive the update in batches, meaning not all users will see it at the same time. Moreover, beta slots are limited. Users hoping to test the software need to act quickly, as registration often closes once the quota is filled.
To join the One UI 8 beta program, eligible users must install the Samsung Members app from the Galaxy Store. Once inside the app, a banner for the beta should appear—tapping it begins the registration process. After enrolling, users can head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to get started. Samsung recommends having at least 30% battery life and enough free storage before installation. As with any beta software, bugs and incomplete features should be expected.
Looking ahead, Samsung has confirmed plans to broaden the beta in September. The next phase will bring One UI 8 beta access to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and select mid-range models including the Galaxy A55 5G, A54, A36 5G, and A35 5G. These devices will also follow the same regional limitations, with no announcement yet for countries beyond the current four.
While still in testing, Samsung’s Android 16 beta update gives users an early preview of what’s coming in One UI 8. The software is expected to include interface refinements and system-level enhancements, though major new features have yet to be detailed. As more devices and regions gain access, users can expect a more comprehensive picture of One UI 8’s changes heading into the final release later this year.
