RØDE has introduced a new device aimed at creators who produce both audio and video content. Called the RØDECaster Video Core, the compact production console expands the company’s existing RØDECaster lineup while introducing a new feature called RØDECaster Sync, designed to connect video production hardware with compatible audio interfaces in a single workflow.

The release follows the debut of the RØDECaster Video S in late 2025 and reflects a broader trend among content creators who are combining podcasting, livestreaming, and video production within the same setup. Rather than positioning itself as traditional broadcast hardware, the RØDECaster Video Core is built for smaller studios and individual creators who want switching, recording, and streaming tools in one desktop unit.

At its core, the RØDECaster Video Core integrates video switching with a built-in audio mixer. The system allows users to switch between multiple video sources, manage scenes, record content, and stream directly to platforms such as YouTube or Twitch. The device is powered by an octa-core processor that handles both audio and video tasks, reflecting the increasing demand for compact hardware capable of managing complex production workflows without relying entirely on software.

The console supports switching between up to four video sources and offers five customizable scenes for multi-camera setups. Three Full HD HDMI inputs allow cameras or other video devices to be connected, while a configurable HDMI output can display preview, program output, or a multi-view layout for monitoring. Two USB-C ports expand connectivity for external devices, computers, or mobile hardware.
Audio functionality remains central to the design. The unit includes two Neutrik combo inputs equipped with the company’s Revolution Preamps, which support microphones, instruments, or line-level audio sources. Audio processing features include EQ, compression, noise gating, de-essing, and additional effects originally developed by APHEX. Nine stereo audio channels can be mixed within the device, allowing creators to balance microphones, music, sound effects, and other sources without external mixers.

One of the more notable additions is RØDECaster Sync, a feature that links the Video Core with compatible RØDECaster audio interfaces such as the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo. By connecting the devices via USB-C, users can manage both audio and video controls within a shared production environment. The approach reflects a modular setup where creators who already rely on dedicated audio consoles can expand into video production without rebuilding their workflow.
Software integration also plays a significant role in the system. The RØDECaster App allows users to configure scenes, adjust audio settings, assign graphics, and manage media playback. The software includes tools for building custom layouts and applying overlays or transitions during live production.
The device also supports NDI network video, enabling up to four network camera inputs through Ethernet. For creators working with mobile setups, the system can integrate with the RØDE Capture app on iOS devices, allowing an iPhone to function as a wireless dual-camera source.
Recording options include direct capture to an external SSD through USB, as well as streaming to major platforms via Ethernet. Isolated recording is also supported, allowing each video and audio source to be recorded separately for more flexible editing later.
Alongside the hardware release, several firmware updates are being introduced across the RØDECaster product line. One update allows users to export a full production timeline as an EDL file for DaVinci Resolve, reconstructing the live switch, transitions, and graphics within the editing timeline. The goal is to simplify post-production by preserving the structure of the live production.
Other updates expand compatibility with USB cameras through compressed UVC and MJPEG input support. Media files in non-standard resolutions, including vertical video formats used on social platforms, can also be imported and automatically scaled within productions.
The RØDECaster Duo audio interface is also receiving an update that increases its total audio channels from seven to nine, bringing it closer in capability to the RØDECaster Pro II. The change allows wireless receivers and XLR inputs to be used simultaneously rather than replacing each other.
Taken together, the hardware launch and firmware updates highlight how content production tools are continuing to converge. Instead of separate systems for podcasting, livestreaming, and video production, newer devices are increasingly designed to combine these functions within a single workflow.
The RØDECaster Video Core is scheduled to ship worldwide and is available for preorder at a starting price of $599.
