RØDE has expanded its production hardware lineup with the introduction of the RØDECaster Video S, a more compact and affordable version of its flagship all-in-one production console. The new model, priced at $499, retains much of the power and feature set of the original RØDECaster Video but in a smaller footprint designed for solo creators, podcasters, and streamers seeking professional-grade video and audio control without a complex setup.
The RØDECaster Video S consolidates video switching, recording, and live streaming tools into a single, desktop-friendly unit. It features an octa-core processor, three HDMI inputs, and a configurable HDMI output, allowing seamless switching between multiple cameras or sources. A flexible USB-C port supports additional video and audio inputs, including webcams and RØDE’s own USB microphones. The system can manage up to four video sources and five customizable scenes, making it suitable for live podcasting, interviews, or small-scale video production.
Audio remains a core strength. The console includes two Neutrik combo XLR inputs powered by RØDE’s low-noise Revolution Preamps, built-in Series IV wireless receivers for RØDE microphones, and Bluetooth support. Each of the nine stereo audio channels benefits from APHEX processing, including EQ, compression, noise gating, and effects such as Aural Exciter, Big Bottom, and Compellor, aimed at delivering a polished, broadcast-ready sound.
The interface is designed for intuitive control, with a two-inch touchscreen, dedicated scene and source buttons, and assignable function keys. RØDE has also introduced intelligent auto-switching, a system that automatically changes camera views based on who is speaking, catering to one-person productions. An “Inspect” feature allows users to preview and adjust scenes or inputs before pushing them live, reducing the risk of errors during recording or streaming.
For connectivity, creators can stream directly to major platforms via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB, or record to external USB storage, including multitrack ISO recording for post-production editing. The device also integrates with the RØDE Capture app, enabling iPhones to act as wireless dual-camera sources for more dynamic streaming setups.
Built in RØDE’s Sydney facility, the RØDECaster Video S continues the company’s move into video-integrated production tools following its success in podcast and audio markets. With its blend of professional-grade processing and simplified operation, the new model aims to serve creators looking for an efficient, portable solution for high-quality content creation.
