RØDE adds free NDI support to RØDECaster Video in landmark firmware update

RØDE has rolled out a major firmware update for the RØDECaster Video, adding full NDI® support at no cost and significantly expanding its capabilities for professional and creator-focused productions. The update transforms the compact switcher into a powerful all-in-one solution for multi-camera, network-based workflows, integrating features previously reserved for high-end broadcast systems.

With NDI (Network Device Interface) now built-in, the RØDECaster Video can receive up to four NDI inputs and transmit one NDI output over Ethernet. This eliminates the need for dedicated cabling, allowing cameras, smartphones, and other NDI-compatible devices to connect seamlessly on the same network. The firmware also extends NDI functionality to the RØDE Capture iOS app, enabling iPhones to be used as professional wireless NDI sources. With Dual Cam, creators can stream from both front and rear iPhone cameras simultaneously, opening new possibilities for interviews and on-location content.

RØDE CEO Damien Wilson emphasized the accessibility this brings:
“By adding NDI at no cost, we’re giving creators the kind of network-based production power that was once reserved for high-end broadcast systems. Now, it’s accessible to anyone.”

Beyond NDI, the update introduces a broad suite of tools for creators:

  • PTZ Camera Control – Full pan, tilt, and zoom control for compatible cameras, with scene presets.
  • Luma Key & Key Mask – Professional-grade keying tools to cleanly overlay graphics, logos, and animations.
  • Input as Overlay – Any video input can be used as a permanent picture-in-picture or persistent graphic.
  • Auto Camera Switching – Integration with RØDECaster Pro II & Duo allows automatic camera switching based on active audio channels.
  • Rounded Corners & Layer Stretch – Visual refinements for overlays and scene layers.
  • UI & Routing Enhancements – New grey pre-mute meters and separate mixers for HDMI and NDI outputs.

These improvements elevate the RØDECaster Video into one of the most competitive devices in its category, targeting creators who need flexibility in streaming, broadcasting, and live event production. With network video, advanced keying, and PTZ control now part of the standard package, the device delivers a feature set unmatched in its price bracket.

The firmware update is available now as a free download via the RØDECaster app.
