RØDE adds direct Bluetooth connect to Wireless Go Gen 3 and Wireless Pro

RØDE has released a free firmware update that expands Direct Connect Bluetooth pairing to the Wireless GO (Gen 3) and Wireless PRO, allowing both systems to connect directly to compatible iOS devices without using a physical receiver. The update, available through the RØDE Capture app, is positioned as a practical change for creators who rely on streamlined mobile recording setups.

Direct Connect was first introduced with the Wireless Micro and is now being integrated into RØDE’s higher-tier wireless microphone systems. With this update, users can pair transmitters directly to an iPhone via Bluetooth through the RØDE Capture app, reducing the amount of hardware required when recording on the go. For mobile creators, vloggers, and journalists working in fast-paced environments, removing a receiver from the signal chain can simplify rigging and reduce setup time.

Within the RØDE Capture app, users can continue to choose between merged and split recording modes. In merged mode, audio from both transmitters is combined into a single stereo file, ready for quick publishing. In split mode, each transmitter records to a separate channel, giving editors greater flexibility during post-production. The app also offers output gain control, allowing adjustments during recording to help manage levels more consistently.

The Wireless GO (Gen 3) builds on the company’s established ultra-compact wireless platform. It uses RØDE’s Series IV 2.4GHz digital transmission and is compatible with other devices in the same ecosystem. Key features include 32-bit float on-board recording, 32GB of internal storage per transmitter, and automatic gain management through GainAssist. These specifications place it in line with current expectations for creators who need backup recording and greater headroom in unpredictable environments.

The Wireless PRO extends those capabilities further, adding timecode support for easier synchronization in multi-camera workflows and a rated line-of-sight range of up to 260 meters. It is also designed to integrate with devices such as the RØDECaster Pro II, RØDECaster Duo, and RØDECaster Video, making it suitable for more complex production setups. With Direct Connect now included, the Wireless PRO can also function as a simplified mobile recording solution when a full receiver-based setup isn’t required.

The update arrives alongside recent price adjustments. The Wireless GO (Gen 3) is listed at US$199, reflecting a reported 33 percent reduction, while the Wireless PRO is priced at US$299, following a 25 percent drop. Both systems are shipping globally, and Direct Connect is available immediately via firmware update in the RØDE Capture app.

For creators searching for a wireless microphone for iPhone, Bluetooth wireless mic for video recording, or compact wireless audio system with direct iOS connectivity, this update broadens the use cases of RØDE’s current lineup without adding cost. While Bluetooth-based workflows may not replace traditional receiver connections in every production scenario, the option offers additional flexibility in a market increasingly centered on mobile-first content creation.
