Reddit unveils “Reddit Answers,” an AI chatbot for community-driven search

Reddit is rolling out a new AI-powered search feature called Reddit Answers. This tool allows users to ask questions and receive concise answers drawn directly from relevant discussions and communities within the platform.

Reddit Answers offers a chatbot-like interface where users can input their queries and receive summarized responses with links to the source threads. This streamlined approach aims to provide quicker and more relevant answers compared to traditional search methods.

The feature has the potential to capture real-time information and trends emerging from Reddit’s vast network of communities. However, initial tests have shown that the AI model may sometimes generate inaccurate or nonsensical responses, a common issue with current AI technology.

Reddit Answers is currently being tested with a limited number of US users on the web and iOS platforms, with support for Android and other languages and regions planned for the future.
