Qualcomm and HARMAN partner to bring generative AI to the car cockpit

Qualcomm and HARMAN are joining forces to bring generative AI deeper into the car cabin, announcing a collaboration that merges Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Elite platforms with HARMAN’s Ready portfolio of in-vehicle technologies.

The partnership aims to bridge the gap between consumer tech and automotive systems by enabling vehicles to feel more adaptive and personalized, much like smartphones. Together, the companies are targeting global automakers in Europe and China, regions where demand for intelligent and connected driving experiences is rising.

At the core of the collaboration is Qualcomm’s compute performance combined with HARMAN’s modular Ready products. These will support AI-driven cockpit solutions including Ready Engage with its Luna AI avatar for natural voice interactions, Ready Vision QVUE for augmented-reality visualizations, and Ready Care for driver monitoring and adaptive interventions. The goal is to deliver more intuitive user interfaces that respond to driver and passenger emotions, preferences, and contextual cues.

For automakers, the integration promises faster development, reduced system complexity, and brand-specific customization. For drivers, it could mean sharper graphics, real-time ADAS visualization, and cabin systems that feel more responsive and personalized.

Beyond infotainment, Qualcomm and HARMAN are also working on centralized compute solutions through HARMAN’s Central Compute portfolio. By leveraging Snapdragon Ride Elite and Snapdragon Ride Flex system-on-chips, the architecture can run safety-critical ADAS tasks and in-cabin infotainment workloads simultaneously on a single chip. This approach simplifies design, reduces energy consumption, and supports a broad range of ADAS functions from perception to actuation.

“This collaboration with HARMAN represents a pivotal moment in automotive innovation,” said Enrico Salvatori, Senior Vice President and President, Qualcomm Europe/MEA. “Together, we’re bringing the power of AI to the cockpit, transforming how drivers and passengers interact with their vehicles.”

HARMAN’s Huibert Verhoeven added that consumer expectations now evolve as quickly as technology itself: “Partnering with Qualcomm Technologies, we can deliver intelligent, intuitive experiences that continually improve, so the car feels as personal and enjoyable as your favorite device.”

The companies will showcase their joint technologies at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, with demonstrations of Snapdragon-powered cockpit and ADAS systems running on HARMAN’s Ready platforms.
