Amazon Prime Video has announced that it will be pushing ads before content starts and after it finishes. The ads will be limited to 15 seconds and will not air while content is playing.
Amazon said that this move is to ensure they continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. Amazon also said that it aims to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers.
Ads in Prime Video content will be introduced in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada in early 2024, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year. The company said it will offer a new ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month for U.S. Prime members and will share pricing for other countries at a later date.
As far as the UAE is concerned, nothing has been announced yet, and looks like it will be excluded during the 2024 roll out.
STARZPLAY is testing similar model it seems in the region, as we have noticed some ads running after each episode while watching some series.
