PlayStation Plus Premium members can now stream games to PlayStation Portal

Sony has announced that cloud streaming is coming to the PlayStation Portal remote player. The feature is currently in beta and available to PlayStation Plus Premium members in select regions.

During the beta, cloud streaming will support over 100 PlayStation 5 games, with resolutions up to 1080p and frame rates up to 60fps. Standard DualSense features like haptics, adaptive triggers, and motion sensors will also be supported.

To access the beta, users need to update their PlayStation Portal system software, have an active PlayStation Plus Premium membership, and meet the minimum internet speed requirements.

Streaming will be limited to PlayStation 5 games, with no support for PS3 or PS4 titles. Certain features, such as game trials, party voice chat, and in-game commerce, are also not yet supported in the beta.

This update addresses a major criticism of the PlayStation Portal, which previously lacked cloud streaming capabilities despite being a remote play device. With the addition of cloud streaming, the PlayStation Portal becomes a more versatile and compelling option for gamers who want to play their PS5 games on the go.
