Philips Hue illuminates the future with AI-powered lighting assistant

Philips Hue, the leading smart lighting system, is adding a touch of artificial intelligence to its repertoire. The company has announced a new generative AI lighting assistant that will allow users to create personalized lighting scenes based on their mood, occasion, or desired style.

This innovative feature builds upon the existing customization options in the Philips Hue app, offering users a more intuitive and creative way to personalize their lighting environments. By simply typing commands like “Give me a scene for a garden party” or using voice prompts, users can generate unique lighting scenes tailored to their specific needs.

The AI assistant will either recommend scenes from the existing Philips Hue gallery or create entirely new scenes based on the user’s input. It can also adjust the settings of existing lights, including brightness levels and color, to fine-tune the ambiance.

Philips Hue isn’t the first to venture into AI-powered lighting. Govee’s AI Lighting Bot and Nanoleaf’s “Magic Scenes” feature offer similar capabilities, generating dynamic lighting effects based on user prompts. However, Philips Hue’s AI assistant stands out with its compatibility across the entire range of Philips Hue lights and its ability to respond to both typed and voice commands.

The AI assistant is expected to roll out in the first quarter of 2025. In addition to this exciting development, Philips Hue also announced expanded compatibility for its Philips Hue Sync TV app, now supporting LG TVs. The company also introduced the Datura ceiling light to the US market, a color-changing, frameless ceiling panel with individually controllable lights and customizable color effects.

Furthermore, Philips Hue has enhanced its smart home security features, adding smoke alarm sound detection and the ability to stream live camera feeds to Amazon Alexa and Google Nest Hub. Users can now conveniently check live camera views and schedule system settings from their devices.

With the introduction of its AI-powered lighting assistant and other exciting updates, Philips Hue continues to innovate and enhance its smart lighting ecosystem, offering users more personalized and immersive lighting experiences.
