Percy Jackson brings its mythology to a new audience inside Fortnite

Percy Jackson is making its way into Fortnite with a new playable island, marking another crossover between major entertainment franchises and the battle-royale platform. The initiative, titled Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters, debuts December 9 and draws from the original novels as well as the second season of the streaming adaptation. Rather than positioning itself as a simple promotional tie-in, the project appears designed to recreate recognizable story arcs for players who want a more interactive route back into the world of Camp Half-Blood.

Announced during CCXP25 in Brazil, the Fortnite island invites players to step in as newly arrived demigods navigating a map modeled after the series’ central training ground. The narrative loop centers on discovering a divine parent, developing powers, and ultimately confronting Scylla and Charybdis in a large-scale encounter on the Sea of Monsters. Characters from the show will appear with in-game models based on the actors’ likenesses, and players can take on side quests and other activities tied to events covered in the series’ first two seasons. For Fortnite, which has steadily shifted toward hosting themed islands and self-contained experiences, this Percy Jackson project functions as another experiment in long-form storytelling within the platform’s creative toolkit.

Cast members involved in the adaptation say they pushed early for a crossover, viewing Fortnite as a cultural touchpoint with an audience that overlaps significantly with Percy Jackson’s younger fanbase. Walker Scobell and Aryan Simhadri noted they had been urging producers for inclusion since production began, underscoring how the game’s reach has become a metric of relevance for many emerging actors. Executive producer and co-showrunner Dan Shotz described the build as a complex collaboration between the series team and Fortnite’s creative partners, involving the translation of monsters, set pieces, and character interactions into a playable format. While he emphasized the breadth of content available on the island, the focus remains on familiar encounters such as the Minotaur and the climactic sea battle.

Other cast members, including Dior Goodjohn and Leah Sava Jeffries, framed their involvement as part of a broader shift in how television properties evolve across platforms. Their comments reflect a growing pattern: major franchises now routinely extend into games not only through licensing deals but through bespoke interactive environments meant to deepen audience engagement. Rick Riordan, who created the novels, said long-running requests for an immersive game informed his support for the project, pointing to earlier eras of online role-playing communities as a reference point for how fans like to inhabit fictional worlds.

With season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians arriving on December 10, Fortnite’s Siege of Monsters island serves as both a companion experience and a test of how narrative-driven properties operate inside an ecosystem largely shaped by user-generated modes. Whether this crossover becomes a recurring piece of the franchise or a one-off experiment will depend on how players respond once the island goes live.
