OnePlus has confirmed that OxygenOS 16, its next major software update based on Android 16, will launch in India on October 16, 2025. The update comes with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence, marking OnePlus’s most ambitious step yet toward building its own AI-driven ecosystem. The company’s teaser tagline, “Intelligently Yours,” hints at deeper system-level AI integration across the user experience.
OxygenOS 16 introduces a suite of new features built around what OnePlus calls the Mind Space, an AI hub designed to organize and process user data. Within this space, the integrated Google Gemini AI model will be able to interact with a user’s stored information — such as notes, event schedules, and tickets — through the Plus Mind feature. The goal is to transform the phone’s assistant from a reactive tool into one that proactively interprets context and intent.

In practice, this means the AI won’t just respond to commands but can take action based on what it already knows. OnePlus demonstrated this with an example: asking Gemini to plan a five-day trip to Paris. The assistant would automatically reference relevant files, dates, and saved information within Mind Space to generate a personalized itinerary. This type of data-aware interaction reflects how mobile AI is evolving from voice-command utilities into full-fledged personal assistants.
Other expected features include visual search and gesture-based interactions, such as the Circle to Search tool already familiar to Pixel users. OnePlus also says the camera app will gain object recognition capabilities, further blending AI into daily workflows.
OxygenOS 16 is also expected to introduce a redesigned interface, with a “Liquid Glass” aesthetic featuring transparent layers and dynamic visual effects. Smaller refinements — like new clock styles, lock screen widgets, and smoother animations — aim to modernize the overall experience without sacrificing OxygenOS’s trademark speed and minimalism.
While OnePlus’s AI ambitions raise some privacy questions, particularly around how Gemini accesses and processes user data, the company appears to be positioning OxygenOS 16 as a forward-looking platform built for generative and contextual computing.
The first device to ship with OxygenOS 16 pre-installed will likely be the upcoming OnePlus 15, followed by updates for the OnePlus 13 and 11 series. After the Indian rollout on October 16, global availability is expected soon after, possibly within weeks.
If successful, OxygenOS 16 could help OnePlus bridge the gap between smartphone utility and AI integration, signaling the company’s intention to compete directly with Google and Samsung in the race to define what “smart” really means in the next era of Android.
