OnePlus appears to be shifting gears with a new smartphone line aimed directly at mobile gamers. According to recent leaks, the company is developing a gaming-centric series that will debut first in China and include features such as physical shoulder triggers, high-capacity batteries, and top-tier mobile chipsets.
Although still in the early stages of development, the upcoming series is reportedly designed to offer an immersive gaming experience that goes beyond what the current Ace series provides. While models like the Ace 3V have already demonstrated strong performance—leading benchmark charts such as AnTuTu—the new series will introduce hardware typically reserved for specialized gaming phones, such as built-in gaming triggers, custom cooling systems, and AMOLED displays with high refresh rates.
The leak suggests the devices will likely feature Qualcomm or MediaTek’s latest flagship processors, though specific chipsets and configurations have yet to be confirmed. Larger batteries are also expected, aligning with broader industry trends in performance-focused devices built for sustained gaming sessions.
In terms of design, the phones will likely follow the aesthetic cues of other gaming handsets while incorporating OnePlus’s evolving visual language. The addition of physical controls, similar to what’s seen on models like the Infinix GT 30 Pro and Nubia’s RedMagic line, will set these devices apart from OnePlus’s current offerings, including the Ace and Nord series.
This new project reportedly remains in the research and development phase and is slated for an initial release exclusively in China. This mirrors the company’s past approach with its Ace lineup—offering experimental features domestically before considering a wider rollout. If reception is strong, an international release may follow.
Pricing and branding details remain undisclosed, but the positioning suggests the series will compete with established gaming phones like the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro and RedMagic 10 Pro, placing it above the mid-range Nord family. Meanwhile, OnePlus is also working on OxygenOS 16, set to arrive next year, which could bring gaming-specific UI changes and system-level optimizations.
For now, the new series represents OnePlus’s most direct effort to capture the growing mobile gaming market—a segment increasingly defined by both performance and playability enhancements.
