OnePlus prepares compact flagship phone and tablet for 2026 launch

OnePlus is reportedly preparing to launch two new compact flagship devices in the first half of 2026, according to a recent leak from China. The upcoming hardware is expected to include a new smartphone—likely the OnePlus 15T—and a compact tablet, rumored to be called the OnePlus Pad 3 Mini. These additions could signal a broader push from the brand to expand its presence in smaller form-factor flagship devices.

The OnePlus 15T is said to feature a 6.3-inch display, maintaining the screen size found in the OnePlus 13T, which launched earlier in 2025. Despite its compact footprint, the 15T may include a 7,000 mAh battery—an unusually large capacity for a device of this size. If accurate, this could give the phone a significant edge in battery longevity, especially compared to other slim flagships that often compromise battery life for size.

Another notable detail is the continued use of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, as opposed to the more common optical variant used in many Android phones. Ultrasonic sensors are generally considered more accurate and responsive, particularly in wet or varied environmental conditions.

Alongside the phone, OnePlus is rumored to be developing a compact tablet powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. The device, possibly named the OnePlus Pad 3 Mini, would likely occupy a premium tier, aligning with the brand’s broader flagship strategy. While exact specifications remain unknown, the choice of processor suggests that OnePlus intends to position the tablet as a high-performance offering in a market segment that remains relatively underserved.

These launches will put OnePlus in direct competition with other major Chinese brands expected to release similar products in 2026. Oppo is preparing its Find X9s, while Honor is rumored to be working on the Magic 8 Mini. Xiaomi and Vivo are also eyeing the compact flagship category with upcoming devices in the Xiaomi 16 series and the Vivo X300 lineup, respectively.

The move toward more compact premium hardware reflects a broader shift in consumer interest, with several brands now looking to offer smaller alternatives without cutting back on processing power, battery life, or build quality. If OnePlus delivers on these rumored specs—particularly the large battery and top-tier chipset—it could help re-establish the brand as a serious player in a segment that’s often dominated by compromises.

Both the OnePlus 15T and OnePlus Pad 3 Mini are expected to launch in the first half of 2026, though official details have yet to be confirmed.
