Nothing OS has generally been known for staying close to stock Android while layering in design flourishes that match the brand’s minimalist aesthetic. With Android 15, Nothing OS 3.0 introduced tweaks to the lock screen, Quick Settings, and overall interface polish.
The upcoming Nothing OS 4.0, first teased in July alongside the launch of the Phone (3), was promised before the end of September. A limited beta went live a few weeks ago, though it didn’t showcase major changes. The new teaser suggests that more visible updates are on the way.
In the video, Nothing highlights new fonts and refreshed app icons, hinting at a visual overhaul rather than deep structural changes. Whether the update incorporates broader Android 16 features like Material 3 Expressive remains unclear.
With the final release expected soon, Nothing OS 4.0 looks to continue the company’s approach of balancing clean Android with subtle design twists — keeping its phones distinct without straying too far from Google’s vision of the operating system.
