A recent Reddit leak has ignited excitement among Nintendo fans, offering a glimpse into the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. A user claiming to have had hands-on experience with the console and its dock shared detailed information, corroborated by moderators on the r/nintendoswitch2 subreddit.
Name and Logo:
Confirming previous rumors, the leak indicates that the console will indeed be called the Nintendo Switch 2. The logo, as described by the leaker and visualized in mock-ups created by Reddit users, features a stylized “II” alongside the familiar Switch name.

Console Design and Features:
While no actual photos of the console were shared, the leaker provided detailed descriptions. The console is reportedly larger than its predecessor and features a new “C” button on the right-hand side. The Joycons are said to have a unique attachment mechanism, with the magnets that secure them to the console integrated into the buttons themselves.
The leak also hints at a hidden feature within the Joycons, possibly related to laser technology, reminiscent of the Nintendo Wii Remote’s infrared sensor. The console’s overall weight is said to be similar to the current Switch model.
Other confirmed details include an additional USB-C port at the top of the console, likely for charging, slightly larger ZL and ZR buttons, and the use of Hall effect joysticks for improved durability and precision.
Display and Dock:
While the display is rumored to be LCD, the updated hardware is said to be capable of 4K 30fps output when docked. The dock itself has undergone a redesign, becoming shorter and more rounded, with the top portion of the console’s screen protruding more prominently.

Game Compatibility:
The leak confirms that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support existing Nintendo Switch games. However, future games designed specifically for the new console will feature a modified cartridge design to prevent them from being used in older hardware.
Release Date and Further Leaks:
The leaker suggests that an official announcement may come as early as January, with a potential public release later in the year. They have also promised to share further proof, possibly including photos, after Christmas.
