Neumann expands KH line with five new DSP subwoofers for immersive audio

Neumann has expanded its KH series with five new DSP-powered subwoofers aimed at professional studios working in stereo, surround, and immersive formats. The lineup includes the KH 805 II, KH 810 II, KH 870 II, and two Audio-over-IP models—the KH 810 II AES67 and KH 870 II AES67—designed for networked production environments.

The KH 805 II serves as an upgrade to the KH 750 DSP, offering nearly double the output while maintaining a compact footprint, making it well-suited for stereo setups paired with KH 120 II, KH 150, or KH 310 monitors. For larger configurations, the KH 810 II introduces multichannel bass management, supporting setups of up to 7.1.4 and handling bass routing for as many as eleven monitors. At the top of the new range, the KH 870 II doubles the output of the KH 810 II while retaining the same multichannel capabilities, making it a fit for large-scale rooms and integration with Neumann’s KH 420 monitors.

Recognizing the shift toward networked workflows, Neumann has also introduced AES67-compatible versions of the KH 810 II and KH 870 II. These models support 12 AES67 input channels and are compliant with standards such as ST 2110, ST 2022-7 redundancy, RAVENNA, NMOS, and interoperability with Dante-generated streams. This places them firmly in line with the requirements of modern broadcast and post-production environments.

All five models incorporate Neumann’s DSP technology, which works with the company’s MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system (sold separately). This integration allows users to calibrate an entire monitoring setup—including analog KH monitors—for room acoustics, phase alignment, and consistent frequency response. With extension down to 16 Hz, the new subs aim to provide not just power, but also clarity and precision in low-end reproduction.

Neumann emphasizes that these new designs bring reduced distortion and port noise compared to previous models, while still offering compatibility with both analog and DSP-equipped KH monitors. This makes them suitable for incremental upgrades, from expanding a stereo rig to building an immersive audio setup.

With these additions, Neumann’s KH line now covers a complete range of monitoring solutions, from the compact KH 750 DSP through to the large-format KH 870 II AES67, ensuring compatibility with everything from small editing rooms to high-end immersive mixing stages.
