Motorola has entered the portable speaker category with the introduction of the moto sound flow, unveiled during CES 2026. This marks the company’s first attempt at a standalone portable speaker rather than an accessory tied directly to smartphones or wearables. The product is positioned toward users looking for a balance between everyday sound quality, practical durability, and software features that integrate closely with modern phones, rather than aiming squarely at the high-volume party speaker segment.
The moto sound flow delivers a stated 30W output and is tuned under the “Sound by Bose” program, a collaboration with Bose. Internally, the speaker combines a dedicated woofer and tweeter with dual passive radiators. Motorola describes the result as a sound profile that prioritizes clear vocals and controlled high frequencies, with bass that remains consistent at higher volumes. Based on its positioning, the speaker appears designed for general listening in living spaces, home offices, or small outdoor settings rather than large gatherings.

Powering the unit is a 6000mAh battery, intended to support extended listening sessions without frequent recharging. While Motorola has not attached a specific hour rating, the capacity places it in line with other mid-sized portable speakers. An IP67 rating adds resistance to dust and water, making the speaker suitable for travel, outdoor use, or placement near pools and kitchens. Visually, the device features a fabric-wrapped exterior with a subtle twill texture and is offered in two Pantone-selected finishes: Carbon and Warm Taupe.
One of the more distinctive elements is the inclusion of ultra-wideband connectivity. With a compatible phone, audio can shift automatically to the speaker when the device is brought nearby, without manual pairing steps. When two moto sound flow speakers are used together, a Dynamic Stereo mode adjusts left and right channels based on the phone’s position, aiming to preserve a stable stereo image as users move around.
Additional features are managed through the moto sound flow companion app, available on both Android and iOS. Functions include Quick Switch for gesture-based audio transfer between phones and compatible earbuds, as well as RoomShift, which moves playback to the nearest speaker when walking between rooms with a UWB-enabled device. Standard connectivity options include Wi-Fi for home streaming and Bluetooth 5 for portable use.
Pricing for the moto sound flow starts at €199, with availability planned across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific markets in the weeks following launch. The speaker enters a crowded segment, but its emphasis on phone integration and UWB-based features sets it apart from more conventional portable audio offerings.
