Huawei has launched the MatePad 11.5 in the United Arab Emirates, positioning it as an affordable tablet for students and professionals who need a blend of productivity and entertainment features. The device is now available across Huawei’s online platforms and retail partners starting at AED 1,299.
The MatePad 11.5 introduces a PaperMatte display designed to reduce glare and mimic the feel of paper, a feature that has previously been reserved for higher-end models. The 11.5-inch panel runs at 120Hz and uses nano-level etching technology to cut down light interference, which Huawei claims eliminates nearly all reflections under bright conditions. The textured surface is also meant to improve writing and sketching with the company’s M-Pencil stylus. An additional magnetron nano optical coating further helps minimize glare, putting the screen closer to the performance of premium tablets.
Software features play a major role in the new release. The upgraded Huawei Notes app now offers customization options such as handwritten text conversion, personalized fonts, and access to a library of templates, covers, and stickers. The tablet also supports GoPaint, Huawei’s digital art app that has until now been limited to more expensive models. This app is intended to appeal both to professional illustrators and hobbyists, with a focus on accessibility alongside advanced features.

The MatePad 11.5 is powered by a 10,100mAh battery, promising up to 14 hours of video playback. It supports 40W fast charging, with a full recharge taking about 94 minutes. On the productivity side, Huawei is promoting the inclusion of PC-level WPS Office, which mirrors the desktop version’s interface and functionality. This is aimed at students and professionals who need to move between tablets and PCs without adjusting their workflow, particularly for spreadsheets, presentations, and document editing.
Performance improvements are backed by what Huawei describes as advanced thermal management, intended to keep the tablet running smoothly across work, study, media consumption, and gaming. While the company highlights efficiency gains, real-world use will determine how well the MatePad 11.5 holds up under heavier workloads compared with rival mid-range tablets.
The MatePad 11.5 represents Huawei’s ongoing push in the UAE market to provide a mid-tier device that balances affordability with features traditionally found in more premium models. Its focus on handwriting, creative tools, and glare reduction could make it a practical option for students and professionals who want a paper-like experience without carrying physical notebooks.
