Logitech has unveiled its first foray into the VR hardware market: the MX Ink Stylus, a 3D drawing and painting tool designed for the Meta Quest 3. This innovative stylus works seamlessly with the Quest controller, significantly enhancing the creative capabilities of the popular VR headset.
The MX Ink Stylus is also compatible with the Quest Pro and Quest 2, supporting various painting and sculpting apps such as Gravity Sketch, PaintingVR, OpenBrush, ShapesXR, GestureVR, Arkio, and Engage XR. When connected to a VR-ready PC, the stylus can be used with Adobe’s Substance Modeler and Elucis by Realize Medical.
While the Meta Quest controller can be used for drawing and sculpting, the MX Ink Stylus offers a more natural and intuitive experience. Logitech, a leader in computer accessories, aims to bring the Quest 3 closer to serving as a laptop replacement with its stylus, Bluetooth keyboards, trackpads, and mice.

The MX Ink Stylus features a replaceable, pressure-sensitive tip with adjustable pressure curves, providing nuanced artistic control in 2D. It includes haptics for feedback and simulating different drawing surfaces, and Logitech offers the MX Mat as an ideal drawing surface.
Unlike standard digital art styluses, the MX Ink allows for full 3D movement with six degrees of freedom. It can be rotated, lifted, and moved in virtual space, and even used to trace over physical objects in mixed reality for quick virtual representations.
The stylus’ buttons are customizable with adjustable activation force and double-tap timing. The MX Ink Well charging base ensures the stylus is always ready for use.
This thoughtfully designed tool aims to cater to the growing community of VR artists and designers. The Logitech MX Ink Stylus will be available at Meta Connect in September, priced at $130, possibly debuting alongside the new Quest 3 headset.
