LG Electronics has introduced its latest entry into the professional medical display market: a 31.5-inch 4K surgical monitor (model 32HS710S) designed to improve efficiency and reliability in operating rooms. The device, which has received FDA 510(k) clearance for sale in the U.S., pairs high-resolution imaging with workflow-focused features aimed at surgeons and surgical teams.
At its core, the 32HS710S offers a 4K IPS display with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, delivering sharp detail and consistent color reproduction. With a peak brightness of 800 cd/m² and approximately 95 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the monitor is tailored for medical imaging and complies with the DICOM standard to ensure accurate rendering of diagnostic visuals.
The monitor’s design reflects the demanding conditions of surgical environments. It features optical bonding to minimize internal reflections, along with anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-fingerprint coatings to preserve clarity under bright operating room lights. For durability, the front of the unit is rated IP45 against dust and water, while the rear carries an IP32 rating. The screen also meets IK06 standards for impact resistance. Weighing just over 9 kilograms, it can be mounted on surgical monitor arms for flexible positioning.
To enhance workflow, the 32HS710S allows independent picture mode settings per input source, making it easier to view multiple imaging devices simultaneously. Hotkeys provide one-touch switching between screen modes, including Picture-by-Picture (PBP) and Picture-in-Picture (PIP), while Mirror and Rotation modes allow for quick orientation changes. A Clone Screen feature supports training scenarios and team collaboration.
Another key addition is Failover Input Switching, which automatically shifts to a backup source if the primary input signal fails—an important safeguard in mission-critical settings. With support for up to four simultaneous input displays via PBP, the monitor enables clinicians to keep multiple perspectives visible at once without sacrificing clarity.
“Time and focus are everything in the operating room,” said YS Lee, head of the IT Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company. “The 32HS710S was developed to give surgical teams tools that reduce friction—whether that’s through automated screen adjustments, simplified controls, or failover capabilities—so they can focus more fully on patient care.”
By combining rugged build quality with intelligent display functions, LG is positioning the 32HS710S as a premium solution for modern surgical workflows. Its arrival highlights the company’s continued push into specialized healthcare technology, building on its broader display expertise.
