Google’s upcoming Pixel Buds 2a may not just be a minor refresh if the latest leak is accurate—they could also arrive with a noticeably higher price tag in Europe. According to new renders and details shared by WinFuture, the earbuds are expected to debut at €149 (around $174), which is a substantial jump from the €99 (~$116) launch price of the original Pixel Buds A-Series.
The leaked images show the earbuds in two finishes, Gray and “Iris,” along with a charging case sporting a similar oval shape to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 case. Instead of the embossed Google logo found on the Pro model, the 2a appears to use a printed logo. The case also carries a gray or blue accent line around the lid, matching the earbud color.

Under the hood, previous leaks suggest the Pixel Buds 2a will feature active noise cancellation and deliver up to seven hours of playback on a single charge, or 20 hours when factoring in the case. However, wireless charging for the case still seems to be off the table.

The earbuds are expected to launch alongside the Pixel 10 lineup on August 20, positioning them as Google’s latest mid-range audio option. That said, the pricing—if accurate—raises questions about whether buyers will see enough added value to justify the roughly 50% increase over the original A-Series. It’s not uncommon for tech products to creep upward in cost over generations, but this one feels less like a creep and more like a step.
With active noise cancellation and updated design tweaks, Google appears to be aiming the Pixel Buds 2a at consumers willing to pay more for a slightly elevated experience. Whether the market responds favorably, or just remembers when these cost under €100, remains to be seen.
