Kerno and Intel join forces to develop AI and edge computing systems in Dubai

Kerno Enterprises FZE, a UAE-based technology manufacturer, has entered into a collaboration with Intel Corporation to advance the country’s high-tech production capabilities. The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Dubai, focuses on developing locally manufactured, high-performance AI, universal, and edge computing systems. It supports the UAE’s “Made in the Emirates” initiative, which aims to strengthen national manufacturing infrastructure and reduce dependence on imported technology.

According to Intel’s General Manager, Taha Khalifa, the agreement underscores Intel’s commitment to fostering innovation and scalable computing within the Middle East. “Through this cooperation, we’re redefining how technology ecosystems evolve in the region,” Khalifa said, highlighting the company’s interest in supporting local production and ecosystem growth.

Under the agreement, Kerno and Intel will co-develop enterprise-class servers optimized for mission-critical applications across government, enterprise, and AI sectors. Manufacturing will take place at Kerno’s Dubai Silicon Oasis facility, which the company describes as the first full-cycle technology production site of its kind in the UAE and the wider Gulf region. The facility has the capacity to produce up to 60,000 servers per year using surface-mount and automated assembly technologies, enabling shorter production and delivery times for regional clients.

Christopher Caswell, CEO of Kerno Enterprises, emphasized that the collaboration represents a strategic step toward building a secure, high-performance digital infrastructure within the UAE. “We are committed to creating digital platforms that align with the nation’s technological and economic growth ambitions — designed, built, and supported right here in the Emirates,” Caswell said.

The announcement was made during GITEX GLOBAL 2025, where Kerno showcased its locally developed AI, universal, and edge computing systems alongside its manufacturing capabilities. The company aims to position itself as a foundational player in the UAE’s emerging hardware manufacturing landscape by combining local expertise with global technology partnerships.

Kerno, founded to establish a domestic ecosystem for advanced computing solutions, designs and manufactures infrastructure systems tailored for regional markets across the Middle East and North Africa. Its work includes supporting digital transformation efforts in government, industry, and business sectors while contributing to local R&D and engineering talent development. The company plans to collaborate with universities and technology institutions to cultivate the next generation of UAE-based engineers and innovators, further anchoring the region’s technological self-reliance.
