JUST IN: OSN addresses concerns over HBO and Warner Bros. content after Netflix acquisition reports

OSN has issued a direct clarification following speculation triggered by reports of a proposed Netflix acquisition of Warner Bros., a development that raised questions about what the deal could mean for HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery programming in the Middle East and North Africa. In a statement responding to concerns outlined in a recent Absolute Geeks report, the company stressed that its licensing structure, ownership model, and long-term agreements remain unaffected.

According to OSN, its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery continues under multi-year contracts that remain in force regardless of the reported acquisition discussions abroad. The platform emphasized that it retains exclusive rights to HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery content across the region, noting that the existing pipeline has not been altered and no immediate disruptions are expected. This position serves as reassurance for subscribers who have been watching the shifting dynamics of global streaming deals and wondering how regional services might be impacted.

OSN also addressed uncertainty surrounding its ownership and operational independence. While Warner Bros. Discovery holds a minority stake in OSN Streaming, OSN underscored that it remains a locally owned company. The minority stake, the company said, reflects a strategic effort to align content distribution in the region rather than an operational dependency that could be influenced by overseas mergers or acquisitions. This distinction is important in a market where partnerships are often confused with ownership structures, especially as global media consolidation continues to accelerate.

In terms of what viewers can expect next, OSN outlined an upcoming slate that signals business as usual. Titles scheduled for 2026 include A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms arriving in January, additional seasons of The Pitt and Industry scheduled for early in the year, the long-delayed third season of Euphoria expected in April, and the next chapter of House of the Dragon set for 2026. These projects represent some of HBO’s highest-visibility productions, suggesting that OSN is confident its content pipeline remains secure.

While the global entertainment industry is in the middle of another consolidation wave—one that could reshape how major studios distribute content internationally—OSN’s response seeks to narrow the focus back to contractual realities within the MENA region. Licensing agreements often span years and typically survive changes in ownership unless explicitly renegotiated. For now, OSN is framing its relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery as stable, insulated from external corporate maneuvers, and positioned to maintain continuity for subscribers.

As with any evolving media landscape, questions may persist until the global implications of a potential Netflix–Warner Bros. deal become clearer. But OSN’s current stance suggests that, at least in the near term, the service anticipates no shift in its role as the regional home for HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery programming. For viewers navigating an increasingly fragmented streaming environment, the response provides rare clarity at a moment when many of the industry’s long-standing distribution patterns are being tested.
