iPhone Air MagSafe battery also charges AirPods and Apple Watch

Apple’s new iPhone Air, announced this week alongside the iPhone 17 lineup, is getting its own dedicated MagSafe battery pack. Unlike previous MagSafe batteries, this model is exclusive to the iPhone Air due to its form factor, but it brings added versatility: it can also charge AirPods and Apple Watches.

The pack features a USB-C port that supports accessories drawing 4.5 watts or less, making it compatible with Apple’s smaller devices, including AirPods and Apple Watch models. Non-Apple earbuds and wearables that fall within the same power range are also likely to work. Charging these accessories requires a cable connection—wireless charging remains limited to the iPhone Air itself.

Priced at $99, the MagSafe battery pack is available now, ahead of the iPhone Air’s retail launch on September 19. That date also marks the release of Apple’s latest wearables: the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3. All new devices are currently open for preorder.

While Apple has offered MagSafe battery solutions before, this Air-exclusive version reflects how the company continues to differentiate accessories across its expanding device portfolio. For users who carry multiple Apple devices, the ability to top up an iPhone Air, AirPods, and Apple Watch from a single battery pack may provide added convenience—though the requirement of a USB-C cable for accessories shows Apple is still keeping certain limitations in place.
