iPhone 20th anniversary edition: everything we know the so far

Apple is reportedly planning a significant redesign of the iPhone to coincide with its 20th anniversary in 2027. According to reports by Mark Gurman, the company is preparing to introduce a new iPhone Pro model that emphasizes glass in its construction more than ever before. While details are still scarce, this move could signal a shift toward a design language that minimizes visible components, possibly revisiting past concepts of a seamless, all-glass device.

The upcoming release could mark the most substantial update since the iPhone X launched in 2017 for the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. That model removed the physical Home button, replacing it with gesture-based navigation and introducing Face ID as a new method of biometric authentication. If Apple follows a similar pattern for the 20-year milestone, users might see another leap in design and functionality.

Speculation is already mounting over what the anniversary edition will be called. Following the company’s history, there’s a chance Apple could depart from its typical naming conventions. If the current numbering system continues, the 2027 model would be part of the iPhone 18 lineup. However, similar to the jump from iPhone 8 to iPhone X, a symbolic name like “iPhone 20” isn’t off the table.

The iPhone 20th anniversary will likely attract major attention, and expectations are high that the 2027 iPhone Pro will feature more than just incremental updates. Whether it’s a major design overhaul or a reimagined user experience, this release is shaping up to be one to watch for long-time Apple users and smartphone enthusiasts alike.
