Infuse 8.2 adds iCloud Drive streaming and user profiles on Apple TV

The Infuse video player has rolled out version 8.2, bringing several notable updates to users across Apple platforms. This release introduces new features aimed at enhancing both personal content organization and streaming flexibility—particularly for Apple TV users.

One of the key additions is support for individual user profiles on Apple TV. With Infuse 8.2, households can now set up personalized environments for each user. These profiles support custom home screens, watch histories, parental controls, Trakt integrations, and ratings. Profiles can also be tied to specific iCloud accounts, helping to keep settings and preferences synced across multiple devices.

The update arrives ahead of the expected release of tvOS 26 later this year, which will enable automatic profile switching based on the active user—a feature that should integrate smoothly with Infuse’s new user management tools.

Another headline feature is support for streaming video content directly from iCloud Drive. Previously, Infuse users needed to download iCloud files locally before playback, which consumed valuable device storage. Now, streaming directly from iCloud allows for more efficient access to media libraries—though there is one caveat. Apple still does not permit browsing iCloud Drive files directly on Apple TV, so users will need to manually add file links to Infuse’s “Links” section in order to access them across devices.

Infuse 8.2 also introduces Metacritic ratings for movies and shows in users’ libraries, offering an additional reference point alongside existing metadata sources. For those streaming lower-resolution content on larger screens, the updated version expands Infuse’s AI upscaling capabilities. Using Apple’s hardware acceleration, the app now provides improved clarity on devices with newer chips—specifically the A16 Bionic or later.

The update is available now via the Infuse website and the App Store. Infuse continues to serve as a flexible front-end solution for users managing local video libraries or leveraging platforms like Plex. With iCloud Drive streaming and expanded user profile functionality, version 8.2 makes the case for Infuse as a comprehensive, multi-device media player for Apple users.
