Huawei has released its latest flagship smartphone, the Mate 80 Pro, in the UAE, marking the return of its Mate series to global markets after a noticeable gap. Priced at AED 3,699, the device is now available through the company’s official retail channels and partner stores across the country. The launch positions the Mate 80 Pro as a high-end option in a competitive segment, with a focus on camera performance, durability, and battery life.
One of the central features is the updated “True-to-Color” camera system. The company emphasizes improved colour accuracy across varied lighting conditions, including low-light environments where detail retention typically becomes challenging. A larger pixel sensor is used to increase light intake, which can help reduce noise and improve clarity in darker scenes. The system also maintains consistent colour output when switching between the main, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses, an area where many smartphones still show inconsistencies. The telephoto lens supports close focusing at around 5 cm, enabling macro photography without requiring a dedicated macro sensor.
Durability is another area Huawei is prioritizing with this release. The front of the Mate 80 Pro uses second-generation Kunlun Glass, which incorporates nano-crystal structures intended to improve drop resistance compared to standard smartphone glass. On the rear, the device uses a vegan fibre material designed to provide a softer texture while also contributing to impact resistance. While such materials are increasingly common, the combination reflects a broader industry trend toward balancing aesthetics with durability.

The phone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, indicating resistance to dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water exposure. These certifications suggest the device is built to withstand more demanding conditions than typical everyday use, though real-world durability will still depend on user handling.
Battery performance is supported by a 5750 mAh capacity, which aligns with the expectations for extended daily use. Charging options include 100 W wired and 80 W wireless speeds, placing it among the faster-charging devices currently available. Huawei also notes a performance increase of around 21 percent compared to its predecessor, aimed at improving multitasking and handling resource-intensive applications more smoothly.
Overall, the Mate 80 Pro enters the UAE market as a feature-rich flagship that focuses on practical improvements rather than radical changes. Its appeal will likely depend on how well these upgrades translate into everyday use, particularly in areas like camera consistency, battery longevity, and long-term durability.
