Huawei has introduced the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5, a new pair of wireless earbuds that focus on upgraded noise cancellation, high-resolution audio playback, and a refined hardware design. Positioned as the company’s latest flagship earbuds, the model introduces a dual-driver architecture for active noise cancellation (ANC) alongside several software-driven audio features aimed at improving everyday listening and call quality.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5 are scheduled to arrive in the UAE later this month through Huawei’s official retail channels and selected stores. The earbuds will be available in four colour options—Sand, White, Grey, and Blue—each designed to reflect natural tones.
One of the most notable aspects of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5 is its dual-driver noise cancellation system. Unlike many conventional ANC earbuds that rely on a single acoustic driver combined with microphones and algorithms, this model uses two separate drivers as part of its noise control design. The setup includes an Ultra-Linear Dual-Magnet Driver and an Ultra-Thin Micro Planar Diaphragm Driver.

The drivers operate as separate noise-handling components, targeting different sound frequencies. According to Huawei, the low-frequency driver focuses on reducing steady background noise such as engines or air conditioning, while the high-frequency driver addresses sharper and more sudden sounds. This architecture is paired with an AI-based sensing system that processes environmental noise data at high speed, allowing the earbuds to adjust their cancellation performance in real time.
Huawei says the system analyzes noise signals up to 400,000 times per second through its MIMO AI sensing model. The goal is to produce more accurate anti-noise signals and improve overall noise suppression compared to earlier models. The company claims the approach results in up to 220 percent improvement in noise cancellation relative to the previous generation.
On the audio side, the earbuds combine their dual-driver hardware with Huawei’s L2HC 4.0 audio codec. This codec supports high-resolution wireless audio with data rates of up to 2.3 Mbps when used with compatible Huawei smartphones running HarmonyOS 4.3 or later and equipped with the company’s proprietary Bluetooth protocol.
In supported scenarios, the earbuds can transmit audio at up to 48 kHz and 24-bit quality. The dual-driver system separates high and low frequencies, which Huawei says helps produce clearer treble, deeper bass, and improved detail across music playback. Users can also choose between four sound profiles: Balanced, Voice, Classical, and Bass.

The hardware design also sees some changes compared with previous models. Huawei has introduced what it calls a “Star Oval” design, which features a reflective diamond-cut finish on the earbuds. The charging case has been slightly reduced in size, reportedly about 5.5 percent smaller than its predecessor.
Material choices differ depending on the colour variant. The Sand, White, and Grey versions use an excimer film layer that creates a subtle textured surface intended to improve grip and comfort. The Blue model instead uses a vegan leather finish on the case.
The earbuds also include an Awareness Mode designed to mix environmental sound with music playback. This feature uses microphones and software processing to allow outside audio—such as announcements or nearby conversations—to pass through without removing the earbuds. Huawei has also included Adaptive Volume, a feature that adjusts playback levels based on surrounding noise levels to maintain consistent listening clarity.
Connectivity features focus on multi-device usage. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 5 support simultaneous connection to two devices, allowing users to switch between sources such as a smartphone and a laptop without manually reconnecting. The earbuds can automatically shift audio priority when switching activities, such as answering a phone call during a video session.
Another addition is Audio Sharing, which allows compatible Huawei earbuds to connect and share the same audio stream, enabling two people to listen to the same music or video simultaneously.
For durability, the earbuds carry an IP57 rating for dust and water resistance, making them suitable for workouts and general outdoor use. Huawei also recommends using its Audio Connect app—available on both iOS and Android—for additional customization and control over sound settings and device features.
As competition in the wireless earbuds market continues to intensify, manufacturers are increasingly focusing on audio quality improvements and smarter software features. With the FreeBuds Pro 5, Huawei appears to be positioning its latest earbuds around a combination of advanced noise control hardware, high-bitrate audio transmission, and everyday usability features designed for multi-device users.
