Huawei expands flagship lineup in the UAE with Mate x7 foldable and new devices

Huawei used a launch event in Dubai to introduce its latest flagship devices, expanding its product lineup across smartphones, wearables, audio, and tablets. The showcase centered on the Mate X7 foldable smartphone, alongside the FreeClip 2 open-ear earbuds, the Watch Ultimate Design smartwatch, and the MatePad 11.5 S tablet. Rather than focusing on a single category, the announcement highlighted how Huawei is continuing to build out a premium device ecosystem aimed at users who move between productivity, fitness, and everyday media consumption.

The Mate X7 is Huawei’s newest foldable phone and represents an incremental refinement of its folding hardware rather than a radical redesign. The device emphasizes durability and portability, with a slim profile and reinforced structure intended to address long-term reliability concerns common to foldables. Huawei has updated the hinge mechanism and display protection, using a tougher outer glass and a multi-layer internal structure designed to better withstand repeated folding. Thermal management has also been improved through a larger vapor chamber and graphene-based cooling, paired with a 5,600 mAh battery intended to support all-day use.

Imaging remains a central focus. The Mate X7 brings Huawei’s flagship camera features to a foldable form, including an updated True-to-Color system that the company says improves color accuracy, along with enhanced HDR video performance. While these claims will ultimately depend on real-world testing, they position the Mate X7 closer to Huawei’s standard flagship phones rather than treating the foldable as a compromise device. Design-wise, Huawei has leaned into materials and finishes inspired by traditional Chinese craftsmanship, offering a mix of nano-fiber and vegan leather options.

The FreeClip 2 earbuds take a different approach from conventional in-ear designs. Built around an open-ear, clip-style form factor, they prioritize comfort and situational awareness over isolation. Weighing just over five grams per earbud, they are aimed at users who want to wear audio devices for long periods. Huawei has upgraded internal processing with a more powerful AI chip to improve call clarity and sound performance, while also adding stronger water and dust resistance and extended battery life through the charging case.

At the high end of its wearable range, Huawei unveiled the Watch Ultimate Design in a new Royal Gold Edition. This smartwatch blends luxury materials with features aimed at niche use cases such as deep-sea diving, including enhanced waterproofing and underwater communication tools. Standard smartwatch capabilities like eSIM connectivity, improved positioning, and noise reduction for calls are also part of the package, reinforcing its positioning as both a functional and status-oriented device.

Rounding out the lineup is the MatePad 11.5 S, a tablet aimed at students and creative users. Its PaperMatte display is designed to reduce glare while maintaining sharpness, and it supports Huawei’s updated stylus and keyboard accessories. Software additions focus on drawing, note-taking, animation, and video editing, with localized creative assets and productivity tools pre-installed.
