HONOR has introduced the HONOR X9d 5G, a smartphone positioned as one of the most durable and long-lasting devices in its category. Unveiled in Dubai, the phone is designed for users who prioritize endurance, practicality, and battery life over fleeting design trends. The company emphasizes the X9d 5G’s ability to balance toughness with a refined appearance, aimed at travelers, outdoor users, and professionals who need reliability more than fragility.
The HONOR X9d 5G recently earned a Guinness World Record for surviving a drop from 6.133 meters without damage, a demonstration of its durability-focused design. While such tests are partly symbolic, they underscore HONOR’s ongoing effort to challenge the industry’s trade-off between aesthetics and resilience. The phone’s structure includes a six-layer drop-resistant build and Ultra Bounce Anti-Drop Technology 3.0, which the brand claims improves protection by more than 100% compared to earlier models. Reinforced materials such as a shock-absorbing bracket and tempered glass contribute to this resistance, alongside certifications for 2.5-meter drop protection, IP69K water resistance, and dust endurance.

The display of the HONOR X9d 5G is another area where practicality meets premium appeal. The 6.79-inch OLED screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,640 × 1,200 resolution, with brightness levels reaching up to 6,000 nits—making it suitable for outdoor use. Its narrow bezels and eye comfort technology contribute to a balanced experience, while the glass itself is engineered to resist scratches and impacts.
Battery life remains a major highlight. The 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery is among the largest available in this range, reportedly sustaining up to two days of heavy use. HONOR has included internal safeguards like temperature monitoring and an anti-aging algorithm designed to maintain battery performance over several years. The device supports 66W fast charging and 7.5W reverse charging, allowing it to power smaller devices on the go.

For photography, the phone features a 108MP main camera with optical and electronic stabilization, accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor and a 16MP front camera. While not competing with flagship camera systems, this configuration targets users who want dependable results for everyday photography. The inclusion of AI-based editing tools such as AI Eraser and AI Upscale provides some creative flexibility directly on the device.
Artificial intelligence extends beyond imaging. The phone includes features like AI Call Translation and AI Summary, which assist in real-time communication and productivity. Magic Portal 2.0 and MagicOS 9.0 integrate these capabilities across the HONOR ecosystem, including compatibility with MagicBook laptops and other smart devices.
The HONOR X9d 5G will be available in Reddish Brown, Forest Green, Sunrise Gold, and Midnight Black, priced at AED 1,299 in the UAE. Pre-orders open from October 24 to 30, with additional benefits such as damage protection, earbuds, and an extended warranty for those upgrading from previous X9 models.
HONOR’s latest release doesn’t reinvent the smartphone, but it does mark a steady shift toward building devices meant to last longer and withstand more. In an era of fragile, fast-replaced phones, the X9d 5G suggests a practical counterpoint—technology designed not only to perform but to endure.
