HONOR X8d arrives with slim design and long battery focus

HONOR has expanded its mid-range portfolio with the official availability of the HONOR X8d, a smartphone positioned around slim form factor design, long battery endurance, and a growing set of AI-assisted software features. The device joins the company’s X Series lineup with an emphasis on balancing aesthetics, durability, and everyday usability rather than pushing a single headline feature.

At 7.5mm thick, the HONOR X8d sits among the slimmer phones in its price category, with a lightweight build and a glossy back finish created through micro-nano texturing techniques. The metal-accented frame adds rigidity without substantially increasing weight, giving the device a more solid feel than its dimensions might suggest. While the visual treatment is clearly aimed at users who prioritize appearance, the design choices also support practical durability.

One of the more notable aspects of the HONOR X8d is its 7000mAh battery, which is unusually large for a phone of this thickness. According to TÜV Rheinland testing referenced by the company, the battery is rated for up to 52 hours of usage under specific conditions and is designed to retain performance over several years. Real-world figures suggest extended video playback and consistent operation across a wide temperature range, from sub-zero environments to extreme heat. Charging is handled via 45W wired fast charging, which helps offset the longer refill times typically associated with high-capacity batteries.

The device introduces a physical AI Button on the side frame, intended to streamline access to common functions and software tools. A short press can trigger system actions or frequently used apps, while a long press opens AI-driven features such as on-screen search, text assistance, subtitle generation, and privacy-focused image tools. Running MagicOS 10 on top of Android 16, the phone integrates broader AI utilities like contextual shortcuts, memory organization tools, and Google’s Gemini assistant, aiming to reduce friction in daily interactions rather than redefine how users interact with their phones.

Despite its slim profile, the HONOR X8d carries SGS-certified drop and crush resistance and is rated IP65 for water and dust protection. This includes resistance to splashes and rinsing, along with limited submersion testing. Touch responsiveness is also tuned to remain usable with wet or greasy fingers, a practical addition for everyday scenarios.

Photography is handled by a 108MP main camera supported by AI processing for detail enhancement and low-light optimization. Features such as 3x lossless zoom and AI-based editing tools, including object removal and image upscaling, are designed to minimize reliance on third-party apps. Cross-platform photo sharing with iOS devices is also supported, addressing a common friction point for mixed-device users.

The front of the device is dominated by a 6.77-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and high peak brightness, making it suitable for outdoor use and media consumption. Multiple eye-care modes are included to reduce strain during prolonged viewing sessions. Performance is driven by the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset, paired with RAM expansion technology that combines physical and virtual memory to support smoother multitasking. Storage options extend up to 512GB, accommodating long-term use without immediate reliance on cloud services.

The HONOR X8d is offered in light blue, velvet black, and velvet grey. Availability in the UAE begins in January 2026, with pricing starting at AED 749, placing it competitively within the mid-range smartphone segment.
