Honor outlines AI device strategy at MWC 2026 with Robot Phone and Magic V6

At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, HONOR used its global stage to outline how it sees the next phase of AI hardware unfolding. The company’s announcements centered on what it calls an expanded AI device ecosystem, spanning a concept-style Robot Phone, its latest foldable flagship Magic V6, and two companion products, the MagicPad 4 and MagicBook Pro 14. Together, these launches reflect HONOR’s effort to position itself not just as a smartphone maker, but as a broader player in AI-integrated consumer electronics.

The most experimental device on display was the Robot Phone, a concept that blends smartphone hardware with physical motion systems typically associated with robotics. Instead of limiting interaction to touchscreens and voice commands, the device incorporates a compact motorized system that enables camera movement and gesture-like responses. A micro motor and a 4-degree-of-freedom gimbal system are built into the phone’s structure, allowing it to physically track subjects during video calls and recording. The idea is to combine multimodal AI perception—sound recognition, motion tracking, and visual awareness—with controlled physical movement.

On paper, the Robot Phone’s hardware is ambitious. It includes a 200MP sensor paired with a stabilized gimbal system designed for smoother video capture. Features such as AI Object Tracking and rotational camera modes aim to support more dynamic shooting angles without external accessories. While still positioned as a preview of future direction rather than a mass-market product, the Robot Phone suggests that HONOR is exploring embodied AI devices that go beyond software-driven intelligence and into mechanically assisted interaction.

In contrast, the Magic V6 represents a more immediate commercial focus. As HONOR’s latest foldable smartphone, it combines a slim 8.75mm folded profile with reinforced hinge engineering and IP68/IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. Battery technology is a central talking point. The device integrates a 6,660mAh silicon-carbon battery with 25% silicon content, developed in collaboration with ATL. The higher silicon ratio is intended to improve energy density while maintaining a thin form factor, addressing a long-standing trade-off in foldable design between endurance and slimness.

HONOR also demonstrated a next-generation silicon-carbon Blade Battery concept with 32% silicon content and energy density exceeding 900 Wh/L, suggesting future foldables could move toward 7,000mAh capacities without significantly increasing thickness.

Display specifications on the Magic V6 include dual LTPO 2.0 panels: a 6.52-inch external screen and a 7.95-inch internal display when unfolded. Both support adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rates, with peak HDR brightness levels reaching 6,000 nits externally and 5,000 nits internally. The inner display incorporates ultra-thin flexible glass and reduced crease depth compared to its predecessor, alongside 4,320Hz PWM dimming and an anti-reflective layer to improve viewing comfort. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and supported by vapor chamber cooling, the Magic V6 is positioned as a high-performance foldable capable of sustained multitasking and gaming.

Beyond smartphones, HONOR introduced the MagicPad 4 and MagicBook Pro 14 as part of its broader AI ecosystem strategy. The MagicPad 4, built on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, features a 12.3-inch 3K OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate in a 4.8mm chassis. AI-based multitasking tools and cross-device collaboration features are designed to integrate with other HONOR devices and third-party ecosystems. The MagicBook Pro 14, powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, pairs a 14.6-inch OLED display with a focus on portability and battery life for productivity-oriented users.

In addition, HONOR revealed its first humanoid robot prototype, signaling interest in extending its AI expertise into physical robotics. The company outlined potential use cases such as retail assistance, workplace inspection, and companionship, though timelines and commercialization plans remain unclear.

Taken together, HONOR’s MWC 2026 announcements show a company attempting to expand its footprint across AI-powered hardware categories. While some concepts remain exploratory, the underlying strategy is clear: tighter integration between intelligent software, high-density battery technology, and connected devices across smartphones, tablets, laptops, and potentially robotics. Whether embodied AI devices like the Robot Phone move beyond demonstration remains to be seen, but the direction suggests that competition in the AI device ecosystem will increasingly involve both digital intelligence and physical interaction.
