HONOR Magic V5 arrives in Middle East with slim foldable design and large battery

HONOR is preparing to introduce its latest foldable, the Magic V5, to the Middle East, positioning it as a device that blends portability with endurance and build quality. Measuring just 8.8mm thick when folded, it’s among the slimmest foldable smartphones on the market, while also housing one of the largest batteries ever fitted into this category of device.

The Magic V5’s design is built around the challenge of matching the portability of traditional flagship smartphones without compromising on structural strength or battery capacity. Achieving this profile involved refinements in both component engineering and materials, with a focus on maintaining everyday usability and reliability.

Central to this balance is its 5,820mAh dual-battery system. The pack uses a silicon–carbon composition, which offers greater energy density than conventional graphite anodes, allowing for a thinner profile without cutting power reserves. At just 2.3mm thick, the battery takes up roughly a quarter of the device’s internal volume while delivering performance suited to extended daily use.

Durability comes from HONOR’s second-generation “Super Steel” hinge, rated for 500,000 folds. Made from a material with a tensile strength of 2,300MPa, the hinge design aims to combine strength with a reduced footprint. The company claims the hinge can bear significant loads in controlled tests, adding a layer of reassurance for those concerned about the longevity of foldable mechanisms.

The manufacturing process for the Magic V5 incorporates an AI-driven production system designed to improve precision and quality control. HONOR says this approach fine-tunes each unit for consistency in its ultra-thin profile while helping to reduce visible crease lines on the display.

To keep weight down without compromising rigidity, the device uses a proprietary seven-layer material stack, notably applied to the Ivory White variant. This approach is intended to offer a balance between light handling and structural integrity.

The Magic V5 will be offered in four color options—Dawn Gold, Ivory White, Reddish Brown, and Black. Pre-orders will open soon, with pricing expected to include launch incentives and after-sales support packages for early buyers.

Rather than focusing solely on novelty, the Magic V5’s proposition lies in refining the foldable form factor: making it slimmer, longer-lasting, and more durable, while keeping the overall experience closer to that of a conventional premium smartphone.
