HONOR has officially launched its new HONOR 400 Series smartphones in the Middle East and Africa, introducing features that lean heavily on AI integration, especially in mobile photography and post-capture editing. The series includes the HONOR 400 and the more feature-rich HONOR 400 Pro, both now available for pre-order in the UAE starting from AED 1399.

One of the headline features is a 200MP camera on the HONOR 400 Pro, powered by the HONOR Image Engine. The camera system supports up to 50x digital zoom, with the base HONOR 400 offering up to 30x. HONOR is positioning this high-resolution setup as a tool for users who want to capture distant subjects with enhanced clarity, though real-world performance will likely depend on conditions and processing algorithms. The AI Portrait Snap feature attempts to maintain focus on moving subjects while adding artificial depth of field for a more stylized look.
Beyond the camera hardware, HONOR is pushing its new AI Creative Editor as a core part of the experience. This suite includes tools like AI Image to Video, which animates static images into five-second video clips, and AI Erase Passers-by, designed to remove people from crowded backgrounds with one tap. Additional editing options include resolution upscaling for older or lower-quality images, reflection removal, eye correction, and collage generation. While these tools showcase what’s possible with machine learning, their effectiveness in everyday scenarios remains to be seen.

Both models run on MagicOS 9.0, HONOR’s latest operating system based on Android 15. The update brings a more connected ecosystem and adds several AI-driven features like real-time subtitles, cross-platform data transfer, and multi-language live translation. HONOR Connect also facilitates smoother integration across different devices, including iOS to Android. Features like AI Deepfake Detection and AI Magic Portal 2.0 are included, though their practical value for average users may depend on future software updates and third-party support.
The devices also aim to deliver on durability and battery life. A 6000mAh battery powers both phones, while the 400 Pro supports 100W fast charging. Water and dust resistance are built in, with the Pro variant achieving higher IP68 and IP69 ratings, offering more protection in harsh environments.
Pre-orders in the UAE come bundled with accessory packs valued between AED 897 and AED 1396, depending on the model. Available retailers include major regional chains and online platforms like Amazon, Noon, Carrefour, and the HONOR Experience Store. Color options span from Midnight Black and Desert Gold to Tidal Blue and Lunar Grey.

HONOR also announced a commitment to six years of Android updates for the 400 Series, which may appeal to users looking for a longer device lifespan. The company notes its continued collaboration with Google, aiming to deliver early access to Android features and broader AI integration in future updates.
With its focus on AI-powered creativity tools, the HONOR 400 Series joins a growing segment of smartphones trying to differentiate through software rather than raw specs alone. Whether these additions offer tangible benefits or fade into the background as novelty features will likely be judged in the months ahead, once users put them to the test in daily life.
