HMD has formally entered the smartwatch category with the introduction of the Watch X1 and Watch P1, expanding its accessories portfolio alongside six new true wireless earbuds under the Dub series name. Rather than positioning the launch as a reinvention of the category, the announcement signals a practical attempt to cover the mid-range wearable and audio segments with broadly competitive specifications and pricing aimed at mass-market users.
The Watch X1 sits at the higher end of HMD’s initial smartwatch lineup. It features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a 466 x 466 pixel resolution and a claimed peak brightness of 600 nits. The use of an OLED panel allows for always-on display support and animated watch faces, features now expected at this tier. The Watch P1, by comparison, uses a larger but lower-resolution 1.83-inch LCD panel with a 240 x 284 resolution and slightly lower peak brightness at 550 nits. The difference between the two models reflects a clear segmentation rather than overlapping roles.

Both watches run on a proprietary real-time operating system and rely on the HMD Watch app for setup and management on Android and iOS. Functionality is broadly similar across the two models, including Bluetooth calling, notification mirroring, music controls, and health tracking. Sensor hardware is shared, with heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, along with sleep tracking, stress monitoring, active calorie tracking, and support for more than 700 activity modes. While that activity count is high on paper, the practical distinction between many of those modes is likely minimal, a common trait among watches in this category.

Durability and battery life are also separated modestly. The Watch X1 carries an IP68 rating, while the Watch P1 is rated IP67, making both suitable for everyday exposure to water and dust. Battery life is rated at up to five days on the Watch X1 with always-on display enabled and up to four days on the Watch P1, with charging handled through proprietary magnetic chargers. Both watches use standard 22mm straps, making replacement bands easy to source.
Alongside the watches, HMD introduced six Dub series TWS earbuds covering a wide range of price and feature combinations. The Dub X50 Pro sits at the top, offering Bluetooth 5.3, active noise cancellation, quad microphones, IPX4 splash resistance, and a claimed 60 hours of total playback when combined with the charging case. The Dub X50 drops ANC but extends total battery life to 70 hours, with nearly 18 hours available from the earbuds alone.

Below those models, the Dub S60 offers environmental noise cancellation and up to 35 hours of playback. The Dub P70 reintroduces ANC with a 45-hour rating, while the Dub P60 and P50 step down to 30 hours and 25 hours respectively.
