HMD has introduced the Amped Buds, a new pair of wireless earbuds aimed at users who want more from their audio gear—specifically, the ability to top up their smartphone on the go. The standout feature here is the 1600mAh battery built into the earbuds’ slim charging case, which supports both reverse wireless and wired charging. It’s a practical addition for those who often find their phone running low during the day.
The case itself is compact, measuring just 14mm in thickness and weighing 80 grams, yet it holds a significantly larger battery than most standard earbud cases. In practical terms, that translates to roughly a 20% wireless charge for an iPhone 16 Pro, or slightly more (24%) when using a cable. The feature also works with other devices, including HMD’s own Skyline smartphone.

Available in Black, Cyan, and Pink, the Amped Buds and their case are built with everyday resilience in mind. The earbuds are rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, while the case has an IPX4 splash resistance rating, making them a reasonable choice for outdoor use or workouts.
From an audio perspective, the Amped Buds are equipped with 10mm drivers and support hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) alongside Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). A triple-microphone setup aims to enhance voice clarity during calls. While the sound profile can be adjusted through the companion app—available on both Android and iOS—Android users also benefit from Google Fast Pair and multipoint connectivity, allowing the earbuds to stay connected to two devices at once.
Battery life is also a strong point. Each earbud offers up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge with ANC turned off. Combined with the charging case, users can expect a total of up to 95 hours of listening time. Features like customizable EQ settings and dynamic bass enhancement round out the package for those who like to fine-tune their sound.
The HMD Amped Buds are now available across the GCC, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Priced at AED 599, SAR 599, or QAR 599 depending on the market, they are being sold through both retail outlets and online platforms.
While the inclusion of a reverse charging case might not be essential for everyone, it adds utility for users who prioritize convenience and multitasking from their tech accessories. The Amped Buds offer a mix of features that aim to balance audio performance with practical daily use, especially for users in regions where mobile-first lifestyles are the norm.
