Google’s latest Easter egg: a Squid Game you can play at work (shhh!)

With the highly anticipated second season of Squid Game premiering on Netflix on December 26th, Google has joined in on the hype by adding a playable “Red Light, Green Light” game to its search results.

To access the game, simply type “Squid Game” into Google Search. A small box with a circle, triangle, and square will appear in the results. Clicking on this box launches the game, overlaying the search results page.

The game mechanics are simple: control a line of people and guide them to the finish line without being detected by the iconic doll. Use the blue circle button to move forward and the red cross button to stop.

While the game provides an enjoyable distraction for fans of the show, it is notably easier than the version depicted in Squid Game. The abundance of visual and auditory cues makes it nearly impossible to fail, potentially diminishing the challenge and thrill of the game. Despite this, the addition of this interactive element to Google Search is a fun way to engage with the popular series and celebrate the upcoming release of its second season.
