Google’s AI Bard evolves into Gemini: get ready for Ultra 1.0 and advanced features

Hold onto your hats, AI enthusiasts! Bard just got a powerful and sleek rebrand as Gemini.

Multiple leaks and Google’s recent actions point to an imminent launch. Not only has the new website gone live, but also a dedicated Gemini mobile app and even a paid Ultra 1.0 tier within Google One subscriptions.

Gemini Advanced unlocks the full potential of Ultra 1.0, designed for complex tasks like coding, logical reasoning, and creative collaboration. It can hold in-depth conversations, understand context, and act as your personal tutor, coding advisor, or even brainstorm ideas for your next creative project.

Google plans to integrate it with your favorite productivity tools like Gmail, Docs, Slides, and Sheets, allowing you to leverage its AI power for seamless writing, editing, and brainstorming.

Available on Android and iOS, the Gemini app keeps you connected to your AI assistant wherever you are. You can even control connected home devices using your voice through Google Assistant integration on Android, with similar features coming soon to iOS.

What’s new?

  • Gemini Advanced: This paid tier unlocks Google’s most advanced AI model, Ultra 1.0, designed for “highly complex tasks.” It promises advanced features like seamlessly drafting emails, invitations, and more across Google services like Gmail and Docs.
  • Free Trial: Dive into the Gemini experience with a two-month free trial (initially rumored to be three months). Existing Google One subscribers can upgrade.
  • Dedicated Mobile App: Download the Android or iOS app to interact with Gemini on the go, even without the “Advanced” plan. Currently, English is the only supported language, but more are on the horizon.

Is it Worth the Switch?

While the free trial lets you explore, “Advanced” access comes with a premium price tag. Compared to the regular 2TB Google One plan, it’s 50% more expensive. In the UAE, the price is set AED 76.99/month.
