Google Chat adds voice messaging for personal Gmail accounts

Google Chat is rolling out voice messaging capabilities for personal Gmail accounts on Android, iOS, and the web. This new feature allows users to send voice messages directly from their Gmail inbox, providing a more versatile communication experience.

Google Chat is a communication platform integrated into Gmail that enables text messaging, video calls, and file sharing. It’s designed for both one-on-one and group conversations, offering a more instant messaging-like experience compared to Google Meet or Spaces.

With the addition of voice messaging, users can now record and send voice messages within their Gmail chats. This feature is particularly useful for those who prefer to communicate verbally or when typing is inconvenient.

To send a voice message, users simply tap the microphone icon in the chat window, record their message, and send it. Recipients will see an inline waveform and receive a transcript of the message shortly after.

This update enhances Google Chat’s communication features, providing users with more flexibility in how they interact with their contacts. While Google Chat primarily serves as a workplace communication tool, the addition of voice messaging could make it more appealing for personal use as well.
