Google’s Gboard keyboard app is rolling out a new “Autofill with Google” shortcut designed to make it quicker to enter saved passwords and payment details. The feature adds a dedicated Autofill icon to the keyboard, giving users direct access to stored credentials without switching apps.
To enable the shortcut, users need to turn it on in the On-screen keyboard settings. Once active, Gboard will prompt you to “Use Autofill with Google,” offering two categories: Passwords and Payment methods. Selecting Passwords displays saved login credentials for the current app or website. Choosing Payment methods brings up stored cards, though security codes must still be entered manually for credit or debit transactions.
The shortcut is appearing for some users in Gboard’s latest stable release (version 15.7.4.787916401), while others report seeing it only in the beta version (15.7.5.787916401). Google first mentioned the feature in recent Play Services release notes.
Previously, Autofill through Gboard could be inconsistent, occasionally failing to load stored credentials and forcing users to copy them manually from Google Password Manager. The new shortcut aims to streamline that process, particularly for frequent online shoppers and users logging into multiple apps and sites.
The update is part of Gboard’s ongoing enhancements, integrating more Google services directly into the keyboard to reduce friction for everyday tasks. While availability may vary depending on version and rollout region, the shortcut should reach all users in the coming weeks.
