Fiio has introduced the JadeAudio JT3, a new pair of open-back wired headphones positioned as an affordable option for listeners seeking high-quality audio without the high-end price tag. Retailing for $69.99, the JT3 is currently available in silver through Fiio’s official AliExpress store.
The JT3 features an open-back design that aims to deliver a wider, more natural soundstage while minimizing heat and pressure buildup during long listening sessions. This structure is often favored by audio enthusiasts for its ability to create a more spacious and realistic sound environment compared to closed-back models. Inside, Fiio has equipped the headphones with 50mm dynamic drivers, using a PEK and PU composite diaphragm designed to balance stiffness and flexibility. This combination helps reduce distortion and maintain clarity across bass, mids, and treble frequencies.
To further refine sound quality, the JT3 incorporates a brass damping ring to control unwanted vibrations, a lightweight TIL voice coil former for strength and heat resistance, and a CCAW coil to improve efficiency and sensitivity. The use of N52-grade magnets contributes to faster response times and greater overall detail. Together, these elements suggest Fiio’s focus on achieving accurate sound reproduction in a midrange price bracket.
The exterior design blends function with durability. The earcups are built from aluminum-magnesium alloy with a perforated grille that enhances airflow, and the drivers are angled to better align with the listener’s ears. The velvet earpads, which are detachable and washable, contain memory foam for comfort and resilience. The stainless steel and zinc alloy headband features ball-bearing sliders for precise adjustment, contributing to a total weight of 330 grams—moderate for open-back headphones.
Fiio includes a high-quality palladium-plated oxygen-free copper cable with dual 3.5mm connectors, color-coded for channel clarity, and an in-line microphone and control module for calls and media playback. A 3.5mm-to-6.3mm adapter is also included for connection to amplifiers and other studio equipment.
While Fiio’s JadeAudio JT3 doesn’t aim to compete directly with premium audiophile models, its combination of engineering choices, materials, and price point positions it as a compelling entry-level option for listeners seeking open-back performance on a budget.
