Dyson has officially launched the Airwrap Co-anda 2x™ multi-styler and dryer in the Middle East, introducing a significant evolution of its best-selling hair tool. The new model delivers twice the air pressure of the previous generation, a redesigned motor, and a suite of smart attachments that adapt to hair type and styling preferences — all while maintaining Dyson’s signature promise of no heat damage.
The Airwrap Co-anda 2x™ (or Airwrap2x™) represents a full engineering overhaul, powered by the new Hyperdymium™ 2 motor, Dyson’s smallest yet most powerful hair-care motor to date. This new motor spins at up to 150,000 rpm — nine times faster than a Formula 1 engine — generating double the air pressure for faster drying and more precise styling. Dyson claims the Airwrap2x™ dries hair as efficiently as a full-sized hair dryer, while producing stronger Coanda airflow for improved curling, smoothing, and straightening.
Despite the power boost, the device is both smaller and lighter than before, improving maneuverability during longer styling sessions. The design retains Dyson’s trademark minimalism and arrives in a new Amber Silk colorway, a soft metallic tone inspired by seasonal warmth and festive palettes.
Precision technology meets personalization
The Airwrap2x™ integrates new smart sensor systems and attachment recognition for seamless operation. Each of the nine styling attachments is fitted with RFID chips that communicate with the base unit, automatically adjusting temperature and airflow for optimal results. Users can fine-tune these settings through the MyDyson™ app, which also stores individual hair profiles for repeatable, consistent styling.
Dyson’s new i.d. curl™ system adds automation to the curling process. When activated, it sequences the necessary airflow and heat adjustments through four automated steps — wrap, set, cool, and release — to deliver uniform curls at the touch of a button. Dual glass-bead thermistors measure temperature 1,000 times per second to prevent heat damage, while micro-electromechanical (MEMs) sensors detect when filters need cleaning.
Intelligent attachments for every hair type
The Straight + Wavy set includes six core attachments — 30mm and 40mm Co-anda 2x™ barrels, an anti-snag loop brush, a round volumizing brush, an AirSmooth 2x™ straightening head, and the Fast Dryer 2x. Additional standalone attachments expand styling possibilities: a tighter 20mm barrel, a Wave + Curl diffuser, and a Tension comb designed for coarser hair types.
Each barrel now features redesigned cool-touch tips for easier handling and automatic i.d. curl detection once hair is fully wrapped. The AirSmooth 2x™ attachment uses twin jets of high-velocity air to deliver tension and control for straight styles without applying heat directly to the hair, while the Fast Dryer 2x preps hair quickly for additional styling steps.

Dyson’s hair-care philosophy remains centered on minimizing damage through precise airflow rather than extreme heat. As Dyson Senior Principal Scientist Rob Smith notes, “Healthy hair is shinier, smoother, and stronger. Every machine we design starts from understanding hair at a microscopic level — its texture, moisture balance, and thermal response.”
To complement the new tool, Dyson recommends pairing it with its Chitosan™ formulations, a line of styling products developed using biopolymer technology derived from oyster mushrooms. These formulas, built with Dyson’s Triodetic™ technology, help maintain styles for longer while preserving hair’s natural integrity.
