Dyson Beauty is expanding into scalp care with the launch of Dyson Amino™, a leave-in foaming scalp treatment positioned as the brand’s first formulation developed specifically for scalp health. Introduced in Dubai ahead of a wider regional rollout, the product reflects a broader industry shift toward treating the scalp as an extension of facial skincare rather than a secondary concern in hair care routines.
The Dyson Amino™ scalp bubble treatment is designed to be lightweight and non-greasy, using a foam-to-serum texture that is applied directly to damp or dry hair. According to clinical testing shared by the company, the formulation can reduce excess scalp oil by up to 62 percent immediately and visible flakes by as much as 88 percent, while increasing scalp moisture levels. These claims place the product within a growing category of functional scalp treatments aimed at balancing oil production and supporting the scalp barrier rather than offering short-term cosmetic effects.
At the centre of the formula is what Dyson calls the Amino11™ blend, combining barley grown through Dyson Farming with 11 amino acids. Barley is a known source of amino acids, antioxidants, and minerals such as zinc and iron, which are commonly associated with supporting skin and hair health. Dyson’s approach emphasises ingredient control from cultivation through formulation, an uncommon but not unprecedented strategy in beauty, particularly among brands seeking to differentiate through supply chain transparency. While the company frames this as a scientific advantage, the real-world benefit will ultimately depend on consistency of use and how the formula performs across different scalp conditions.

The treatment also includes familiar skincare ingredients such as niacinamide, ectoin, and caffeine, all of which are widely used to support barrier function, hydration, and scalp stimulation. Dyson states that continued use may contribute to reduced hair fall and improved hair density, though, as with most topical treatments, such outcomes are influenced by multiple factors including genetics, overall health, and hair care habits.
From a usability standpoint, the product is designed for convenience. A precision nozzle allows targeted application, and the formula does not require rinsing, making it easier to integrate into daily routines. Dyson also highlights refill availability and NFC-enabled packaging, aligning with current expectations around sustainability and digital product support, though these features are increasingly standard rather than distinctive.
With Dyson Amino™, the company completes a three-part formulation lineup that includes styling, conditioning, and now scalp care. While Dyson continues to position its formulations alongside its hair tools, the scalp treatment itself stands as an attempt to address common issues such as oil imbalance and irritation without the heaviness associated with traditional treatments. Priced at AED 249 in the region, it enters a competitive market where performance, not branding, will determine long-term relevance.
