DJI has introduced the Osmo Mobile 8, the newest version of its smartphone gimbal series, designed to make mobile filming smoother, smarter, and more versatile. The device brings several refinements over its predecessor, emphasizing improved subject tracking, expanded compatibility, and better audio and lighting integration—all in a lighter, more ergonomic form.
The standout upgrade is the enhanced tracking system. Thanks to Apple’s DockKit integration, iPhone users can now use Osmo Mobile 8’s subject tracking directly within the default Camera app or across more than 200 compatible iOS applications, eliminating the need for extra setup. The gimbal can leverage both a phone’s wide and telephoto lenses simultaneously through a new feature called Dual Lens Boost, maintaining precise focus even in busy or fast-moving scenes.

Android users also benefit from DJI’s ActiveTrack 7.0.1 technology through the DJI Mimo app. For the first time in the series, the gimbal can track pets as well as people, automatically keeping animals in frame during motion. Gesture controls—such as waving a hand to initiate tracking or flashing a “V” sign to take a photo—make it especially practical for solo creators, vloggers, and streamers.
Another key addition is the new multifunctional module. It includes a built-in fill light with eight adjustable brightness and color levels and an integrated microphone receiver compatible with DJI’s Mic 3, Mic 2, and Mic Mini. This setup reduces the need for additional lighting or external audio equipment, offering a more streamlined shooting experience.

The Osmo Mobile 8 retains DJI’s three-axis stabilization system while adding conveniences like a built-in tripod and an extension rod for flexible framing options. The gimbal weighs just 370 grams, supports up to 10 hours of battery life, and can even charge a smartphone while filming—useful for extended outdoor shoots or travel content.
Available now for £135 or €159 through DJI’s official store and authorized retailers, the Osmo Mobile 8 positions itself as an all-in-one tool for mobile filmmakers who want reliable tracking, stabilization, and sound quality without extra gear. It reflects DJI’s continued effort to merge portability with professional-grade control, catering to creators seeking an efficient, lightweight setup for both casual and cinematic video production.
