Character.AI adds social feed to mobile app

AI chatbot platform Character.AI is stepping further into the social media space by adding a dedicated social feed to its mobile apps, letting users share, watch, and interact with AI-generated content directly inside the platform.

The feature — already available on the company’s web version since June — allows users to post AI-generated images, videos, and even share snippets of conversations with their custom characters. These posts can take many forms: visual scenes created through chat prompts, character debates streamed live, or short clips made with the platform’s generative video model, AvtarFX. With AvtarFX, users can turn text prompts and images into short AI-powered videos and instantly post them to the feed.

Character.AI says the move is designed to make interaction more fluid and collaborative.

“With our new Feed, the boundary between creator and consumer is disappearing,” CEO Karandeep Singh said in a statement. “You can come to Feed for a lean-back experience and watch content from our amazing creators – but you can also take the story forward or create a new epic adventure.”

The in-app feed puts Character.AI in closer competition with other AI-native platforms experimenting with social sharing. Just last month, AI video tool Pika launched an invite-only app allowing users to make and post videos using its generative tech, while established social platforms continue to be flooded with AI-generated visuals and clips.

By moving beyond one-on-one chats with AI personas into a broader content-sharing environment, Character.AI is betting that its community will embrace a space where AI characters aren’t just conversation partners — they’re part of a social ecosystem.
