CES 2025: Roborock Saros Z70 Robot Vacuum debuts with innovative retractable arm

Roborock has unveiled its most advanced robot vacuum yet, the Saros Z70, at CES 2025. This innovative vacuum and mop hybrid features a retractable mechanical arm capable of recognizing, picking up, and putting away objects, taking home cleaning to a new level.

The Saros Z70 boasts impressive cleaning capabilities with 22,000Pa of suction power and a new navigation system using time-of-flight (TOF) sensors. Its docking station can empty the dustbin, wash the mop pads, and even remove the pads for dry vacuuming runs.

The OmniGrip Arm

The Saros Z70’s standout feature is its five-axis OmniGrip arm. Equipped with a built-in camera, the arm can identify and pick up objects weighing less than 10.6 ounces. Initially, it will recognize socks, sandals, tissues, and towels, with more object types to be added through future firmware updates.

The companion app allows users to train the arm to bring specific objects to designated locations in the home. For example, tissues can be directed to the trash can, while sandals can be placed in the closet.

Advanced Cleaning and Navigation

The Saros Z70 cleans in three passes: first, it vacuums and/or mops and identifies objects that need to be picked up. On the second pass, it moves the objects aside and cleans the previously obstructed area. Finally, it puts the objects away.

The robot’s navigation system uses 3D TOF sensors, an RGB camera, and AI to recognize and avoid obstacles. It can identify up to 108 objects and can be trained to recognize up to 50 customizable objects through the app.

Additional Features

The Saros Z70 inherits features from Roborock’s previous flagship model, the Qrevo Curv, including the ability to lift itself over small obstacles and a FlexiArm Riser Side Brush for edge cleaning. It also introduces automatic mop pad removal at the base station to prevent cross-contamination with carpets.

Other features include built-in voice command support, compatibility with Alexa and Google Assistant, and an upcoming Matter support update for wider smart home integration.

The Saros Lineup

Roborock also introduced two other models in its new Saros line: the Saros 10R, which is similar to the Z70 but without the mechanical arm, and the Saros 10, featuring a unique retractable radar tower for improved navigation under furniture.

Pricing and availability for the Saros lineup have not yet been announced, but all three models are expected to launch in 2025.
